  • Chest pain or chest tightness

  • Trouble seeing, speaking or drooping face
  • Weakness or numbness in one limb occurring quickly
  • Severe headache occurring quickly
  • Severe abdominal pain
Our Unique Clinical Approach

From your first encounter with us, you’ll realize that this isn’t your typical ‘minute clinic’. The Center was developed with Phoenix Contact to extend the company’s commitment to employee health with the same progressive approach as their other health-focused benefits.

The Center offers both a conventional and Functional Medicine perspective on health. Doctors who practice Functional Medicine work to identify the root cause of a medical issue rather than just focusing on managing the symptoms. While we still use prescription medications and standard testing, we’re also looking to reverse the actual source of the problem.

Our providers have extensive education and experience in both the more familiar conventional medicine as well as an expertise in Functional Medicine.

FAQs

How do I get started with the Center?

To schedule your first visit with The Center, just simply call us at 717.616.3318. Our staff will provide you with the necessary paperwork that you will need to complete and submit at least 2 days prior to your first visit.

After your first visit, you will have the option to schedule future appointments by phone or by using the Spruce mobile app.

Can I keep my primary care doctor if I also visit the Center?

Absolutely! You can utilize The Center in the way that suits you best. That might mean a quick visit when you’re feeling under the weather, seeing our physicians to manage a single chronic condition or even having our providers serve as your primary care physician. The choice is yours.

Does Phoenix Contact have access to my medical records?

No. The Center is a clinic that is located on the Phoenix Contact campus but is operated by R-Health, a company that is independently owned. All patient medical records are secure and private, as we adhere to HIPAA regulations for your protection. Your medical record remains confidential and can only be accessed by the clinical staff of The Center.

In fact, you will only ever receive communication from The Center through the email address that you designate (for notices about the clinic), through the Spruce mobile app, and through US Mail for confidential documents.

What is a virtual visit?

Virtual visits are one of the most convenient ways to receive medical care. This includes phone consultations, video visits, and texting through our secure mobile app. When medically appropriate, this allows you to stay in the comfort of your home, office or hotel when traveling and receive medical care virtually.

Virtual Visits work well for

  • Reviewing test results
  • Following up on health status with new therapy or medication changes
  • Nutrition and lifestyle coaching/education
  • Discussing next steps

Virtual Visits do not work well for

  • Conditions requiring physical exams (listening to your heart or lungs, looking in your ears, eyes, throat or feeling lymph nodes or glands)
  • Establishing with the practice since you must be physically present for your first visit

Will the Center carry professional-grade nutritional products?

The Center recognizes the value of utilizing nutritional products when the situation makes clinical sense and when patients are interested in this type of therapeutic approach. The key is finding high-quality products that are regularly tested and meet the strict requirements of Good Manufacturing Processes.

We have established a professional-grade product dispensary with Fullscript to provide a fast and convenient way to receive your nutritional products at a discounted price.

If I am too sick to come to work, can I still be seen by the Center’s physician?

Yes. As long as you have established with the clinic through your first visit, it is possible for our physicians to conduct a visit with you through the use of our secure mobile app. However, we cannot guarantee that your specific condition will always lend itself to a virtual visit. Sometimes, it is necessary for the doctor to physically evaluate certain areas of the body that are not visible through video technology (such as inside ears, throat or eyes). With that said, our staff will do their best to accommodate you in the event that you are too sick to come into the clinic.

If, however, you are taking a ‘sick day’, you are still welcome to come into the clinic as you would any physician’s office for care.

Can my spouse and children / dependents also utilize the Center?

At this time, The Center is offered to employees of Phoenix Contact, spouses/partners and adult children 18 and over.

How quickly can I be seen?

At The Center, you have access to same-day or next-day appointments. If you are sick, we make every effort to ensure that you are seen that very day. In those situations, it’s best to alert our office as soon as possible.

How often can I visit the Center?

You may visit with our providers as often as is medically necessary.

How is the Center different from a typical doctor’s office?

Our investment in getting to know our patients and their families is what really sets us apart. In a traditional practice, a doctor may care for several thousand patients, but because of our exclusive relationship with Phoenix Contact, we care for several hundred. This model allows our providers to spend time with you, get to know you, respond in a timely manner to your needs, advocate on your behalf, and coordinate your care with specialists.

In addition to their extensive clinical training and experience, our providers incorporates a Functional Medicine approach as a means to prevent, treat and even reverse chronic disease.

What is functional medicine?

Functional Medicine is a field of medicine that is focused on identifying the source of the symptoms in the body that leads to a medical condition. While we still use prescription medications and standard testing, we’re also looking to reverse the actual source of the problem rather than just managing the symptoms that are caused by the problem.

Providers who practice Functional Medicine receive their training after having completed their M.D. and often choose to continue their education into the field of Functional Medicine to better help their patients.

While Functional Medicine has a role in nearly all medical conditions, it is particularly well suited for preventing, treating and even reversing chronic diseases like heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome, digestive disturbances, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, allergy/asthma, Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid dysfunction, and hormone imbalances, just to name a few.

We encourage you to check out the Institute for Functional Medicine if you’re interested in learning more about this exciting field of medicine at www.IFM.org.

Is functional medicine science-based?

Yes! In fact, one of the first realizations that most physicians have when they begin their Functional Medicine training is how they must return to their medical school education in biochemistry and pathophysiology. This helps them to understand how dysfunction begins at the molecular level and how to best identify when one of these thousands of clinical pathways goes awry to cause symptoms and disease.

How can I come to The Center if I am working?

Phoenix Contact understands that employees will need access to the clinic during working hours and as such has created the following procedure for utilizing the clinic during your workday:

  • Non-exempt/hourly employees
    • Functional Medicine visit – you must clock out but may be permitted to make up time during that same work week, if business conditions allow
    • Visit immediately following an injury or exposure suffered while working for Phoenix Contact – you do not need to clock out
    • Sick visit or work injury/exposure follow up visit – you must clock out but may be permitted to make up time during that same work week, if business conditions allow
    • Visit required for Employee Health Compliance (drug test, PPD, Hep B, flu vaccine) – you do not need to clock out

If I am hospitalized, will the Center’s physician come to see me in the hospital?

Does the Center offer flu vaccines?

Yes, The Center will offer flu vaccines, however, we will have a limited supply. Flu vaccines will be administered on a first come, first served basis, therefore, we strongly recommend that you establish with The Center early on.

Will the Center refill my prescriptions?

Prescription refills can be requested either by calling us at 717.616.3318 or conveniently through our secure mobile app. Our providers will only refill prescriptions when they meet the following criteria:

  • The prescription was written by our providers or was written previously by another provider for a condition that is now under our providers care and is felt to be medically indicated to continue
  • The request for a refill was submitted either through our secure mobile app or via phone request
  • The prescription has refills remaining. If all refills have been filled, you will need to return to the clinic for a follow-up visit to receive a new prescription

What if I need to speak with my doctor during the evenings or weekends?
